Find Book

This screen provides the ability to find any books entered in the database, so you may edit the information associated with it; print or export it; or delete it.

How to Enter Search Criteria

Search by Person

To do a search for every title in the database by Person, click on the "Person" radio button in the upper left hand corner, type in the last name of the author (case is irrelevant), and click on the "Search Database" button. After a brief delay, all the books/videos selected will be displayed in a standard Windows grid (the Answer Grid) at the bottom of the screen. Directly above the grid, on the right, you will see the number of records selected.

Note well! You only need to enter the first few letters of a name in the search box. The database will search for all titles whose author/magician has those same first letters. If you search on the letter "b"; you'll get only those titles with an author/magician starting with "B." If you don't enter anything in the Person box, ALL titles in the database (that have authors listed) will be returned.

You may also search for a name by entering the last name, a "," (comma) and the first name. Searching for "Harris, Paul," will get you all the books from Paul Harris, but not Ben Harris. A search for "h,p" will get you all books by authors whose last name start with "H" and first name starts with "P."

Search by Notes

To search for a title by looking for information in the "Notes" field, click on the "Notes" radio button, and enter a word or phrase. All titles that have this word in the "Notes" field will be displayed in the Answer Grid. You may make a "case sensitive" search by clicking on the "Case Sensitive" check box. If you do not enter anything in the "Word or Phrase" field before doing a database search, no records will be returned.

Search by Title

If you wish to search by Title, merely click on the "Title" radio button in the upper left hand corner, and type in the name of the title. As with an author search, you need not enter the complete title. If you don't enter anything in the title box, ALL titles will be displayed. If you have some titles in the database without any authors, you will retrieve MORE records searching on "Title" than on "Author."
