Fields on the Add Book Screen.

Title

The Title of The item you are adding. Duplicate titles ARE allowed, however the authors for these titles must be different, or the items must be on different media.

We suggest that you enter titles in the standard manner that doesn't use the words "A", "The", etc. as the first word of the title. You would enter the title "The Complete Works of Derrick Dingle" as "Complete Works of Derrick Dingle, The" Max: 60 Characters.

Authors

You may add one or more authors, to any book or video. (It is not required that you add any authors.) Moving Authors to the right side is similar to moving attributes in the Add Trick Screen.

Magician

Use this field only when the subject of the book is not credited as an author. For the book "The Classic Magic of Larry Jennings," you would put Mike Maxwell as the author, and Larry Jennings as the magician. You may NOT have the same person in the Author and Magician field of a book. Use of this field is informational only. Any databases searches by a person's name will retrieve this book regardless of how the person is entered in the database.

Price

This may be the purchase price, or your estimate of current value, etc. You can see statistics concerning the sum and average price of the books in the database, and sort by it in the "Find Book" screen.

Notes

Use this as you choose. You might want to put in the date purchased, ISBN number, where you bought it, to whom it's been loaned, etc. Any information you enter in this field is searchable in the "Find Book" screen. (Special Note: If you right click on this field, you will see an "Enlarge" pop-up menu appear. If you select this, the field will enlarge to fill most of the form. This will make it easy to enter and review any lengthy notes you would care to enter. Right clicking again will bring up a "Shrink" menu.)

Buttons on the Add Trick Screen

Media (Radio Button)

Use this to select the media of your item. The default is "Other/None." Selecting this will be valuable to help restrict searches, as well as giving you useful statistics. It is necessary to select a Media type if you have two titles with the same name by the same author(s). For instance, if you have a book with a companion DVD, you must enter two different media types, as you can not have two titles in the database with the same author(s) and media type.
